The 412GW works like any other dash camera, switching on when it gets power and then automatically recording short clips until full. It then loops over old footage, so it’s always on. If the built-in G sensor detects something unusual, such as hard braking or a bump, it will mark the footage to be saved, so it won’t be recorded over.

G-Sensor:For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting. The 422GW has a camera resolution of 1440p, more commonly known as 2k. Whilst the camera does also offer 60fps, you will need to keep the resolution at 1080p to utilise this. The series 2 range of dashcams is the second generation of devices from Nextbase that were launched throughout 2019 and 2020. Image quality is excellent, even in low light conditions. The 412GW records in up to 1440P at 30 frames per second, but it’s perhaps at its best in 1080P at 60 frames per second, which provides extremely clear, crisp, fluid video.

Just like the in the photos, it looks great! It feels very well put together, hard wearing plastic make for a good looking unit with the buttons easily accessed on the rear of the unit. On the other hand, if you’re keen to record extremely high-quality, clear footage - for example, if you live in a busy town and are prone to encountering hazardous situations - then the extra cash isn't too much of a push. It’ll get you clearer, more fluid footage, which for a lot of dash cam buyers matters more than value - and it's still much cheaper than many inferior cameras. In-built WiFiThe 622GW is the only dashcam in the range to feature a resolution of 4k, this allows for really crisp videos and you’ll be able to identify signs, faces and reg plates with ease. Another upgrade you’ll find in the 622GW that wasn’t features in the 522GW is digital image stabilization, this works much like it does on high end DSLR cameras to digitally make videos smoother and iron out the bumps.
